Rachel Ray Show

I'm at home - skipping class again and not studying for this crucial Spanish quiz (the reason I told myself to skip class in the first place) - and the Rachel Ray show is on. I don't have cable, so I have some limited TV options. I usually just watch PBS, but it's cartoon time right now.

RR replaced Dr. Phil on ABC at the 10 a.m. EST slot and it's such a weird show. The only parts that seem natural or not forced are the cooking segments, but now that it's in front of a live audience, she's starting to act like Emeril, which annoys the CRAP out of me. Everyone starts cheering when she drenches some butternut squashes in maple syrup...and she makes weird noises while adding seasonings..it's really bizarre.

Although, her butternut squash thing seems kind of interesting. She greases cut-in-half butternuts with tons of softened butter, but us veggies could use EB, then she pours maple syrup over them, salt, pepper, and grated nutmeg. Then I guess she bakes them, cut side up. Sounds like it could be interesting.

But everything else she makes is gross and drenched in chicken broth or bacon. I do like how quickly she makes everything. I'd love it if she was vegan.

What celebrity chef would you love to see go vegan?

I would have to vote for Alton Brown.. he could totally do a show about the science of egg-replacers depending on what your trying to cook or bake and what would work better and why..
umm, I just watched that rachel ray show for the first time yesterday-it kinda freaked me out too. She did seemed forced and fake.

I love Alton, I would have to go with him as well.

BUUUUUTTTT...I am in lust with Tyler Florence as I think he's insanely cute. So I'm totally torn.

I'd like to see them ALL go vegan, esp. Paula Deen and Barefoot Contessa! But I'm with the others, AB rules!

I've never seen the new RR show, but I've just about had my fill of her. She's on more than Emeril now.

Yeah! I change my pic - I'm with Alton Brown as well. I just love watching his show. His story is interesting as well (you can read it on the food network site).

Ah yes, Tyler Florence. He's very cute. Although, I'm a little weirded out by his new Ruby Tuesdays restaurant gig - have you seen those commercials?

I love watching Barefoot Contessa - she definitely needs to go vegan. I remember watching her make liver pate with chicken fat, oil and chicken livers (vomit).

Thanks guys!

I think I'd rather study Spanish than watch Rachael Ray! Lol! Actually, I've never seen her show, but from the descriptions here, I see I am not missing much!

I would love to see a show like "Iron Chef" go vegan! I love watching shows like that but get grossed out by the meat and dairy.

I enjoyed that show, but I dislike the pace - it's like she's trying to cram so much into 1 hour. Even when she sits down for a breather I feel that it is all rehearsed.

I also wish she'd make some vegan food or even more vegetarian food.

I'd love to see Ina Garten go vegan.

P.S. - Yes, Tyler Florence should go vegan or at least eat a bit healthier...he looks like he's ready to burst. Remember when he ussed to be slimmer?

Crystal - thanks so much for saying that! He has definitely balooned a bit. I mean, never trust a skinny chef, but...

For me, it's a toss-up between Bobby Flay (creeeeeeeeeepy!) and the low-carb guy (just really annoying.)

P.S. I just bought the I heart carbs tee from alternative outfitters . . . soooo cute!
